  Job Description


    Position Summary:

    • We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECEAs) to join our team. Under the guidance of the Daycare Supervisor/operator/licensee and in collaboration with other team members, the ECE/ECEA will be responsible for planning and implementing high-quality early learning programs and providing nurturing care for children in our daycare.Provide a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment for children.


      Responsibilities

    • Interact with children in a positive, respectful, and engaging manner.

    • Supervise and monitor children's activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

    • Assist children with their daily routines, including eating, dressing, toileting, and napping.

    • Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.

    • Work collaboratively with other team members to plan and implement program activities.

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

    • Follow all daycare policies, procedures, and licensing regulations.

    • Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions as required.

    • Implement positive behavior management strategies to support children's social and emotional development.

    • Observe children and document their development, interests, and needs.

    • Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with parents and families.

    Specific Responsibilities for ECEs:

    • Develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate programs and activities that promote children's physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development, in alignment with the ELECT document and How Does Learning Happen?

    • Lead activities such as storytelling, songs, games, creative expression, and outdoor play.

    • Adapt program plans to meet the individual needs of children, including those with special needs.

    • Assess children's development and progress, and provide feedback to parents/guardians.

    • Work with parents, families, and other professionals to support children's learning and development.

    • May supervise and mentor ECEAs, students, or volunteers.

    Qualifications:

    Early Childhood Educator (ECE):

    • Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college.

    • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) in Ontario is required.

    • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.

    • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and other relevant legislation.

    Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA):

    • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

    • Experience working with children in a daycare or similar setting is preferred.

    • Completion of some Early Childhood Education courses or a certificate is an asset.

    • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification is required.

    • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
